Healing Through Story

We all have a story to tell. Whether you’re a new or experienced writer, we will learn to craft stories of the heart based on personal experience while gaining skill and confidence for creating a compelling narrative with universal appeal. Through quieting our minds, weekly prompts, and group discussion we will pursue our authentic voice and engage in the process of discovery.

Writing for Medical Professionals

In this class we focus on both personal and professional narrative. Reflective writing offers those who work in the medical field time to explore a creative outlet while examining the identity of the healer. I recently completed a four-week pilot program for Kaiser physicians in Northern California.

Writing for Spiritual Discovery

I will be offering a monthly workshop for Congregation Rodef Shalom in San Rafael in which we will explore how writing, like prayer or meditation, can lead us to a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us. Using a variety of writing prompts, we will unearth our deepest questions, explore the rituals and spiritual experiences that have influenced our lives, and search the seemingly small moments for unexpected revelations.

Writing About Loss

We have all experienced loss or the death of a loved one and found ourselves paralyzed. By writing our grief we will honor the memories of those we have lost, give voice to our emotions, and learn to shape our loss into compelling narratives.

Writing for New Mothers

The transition to motherhood is packed with complex feelings and awakenings. I will use my past experience as a childbirth and new parent educator to help you give voice to new revelations and perspectives.

Wouldn’t it be better for you to discover a meaning in what you write than to impose one? Nothing you write will lack meaning because the meaning is in you.
